A Fox Faces his future

The Fox

by Pamusart

I get near the henhouse.
But, farm dogs have heard.
They will not let me
Catch one single bird.

The pangs from my hunger
Do gnaw at my gut.
My hunting skills really
Are in quite a rut.

I'd laugh at myself,
But, it's not that funny.
I'd trade in my soul
For a plump little bunny.

I'm ripe for evil
To enter my heart.
To drive a wedge
That tears me apart.

But, what can I do?
I so need to eat.
What price will I pay
For getting some meat?

I lay my bones down;
Releasing my heart.
I'm no longer hungry.
I have a new start.

I'm in this new forest
With beautiful birds
Who chirp so softly
That Good can be heard.

I know I am lucky.
I look back to then.
Glad I was taken,
I say an Amen.
