My Life in 150 Words

by HarryT

I was born at Chicago Lying-in Hospital. The bill was $12.00 in 1941. Spent the first five years in a two bedroom apartment on south Ashland Avenue sharing a room with my brother; a bratty sister came later. She is now forgiven. After finishing kindergarten, we moved to 55th and Sacramento Avenue. I attended a catholic grade school, high school and university, after which I promptly lost the faith.

I hold a master's and doctor's degree in Education. My first job was at Glenview Junior High School. I spent 42 interesting years in education during which I taught, counseled and served as a principal, superintendent and college professor in both public and private schools. I'm now retired and am spending my time bowling and writing. I live with my wife of 32 years; we have a blended family of four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Life is good.
