A child's foundation's built on love,
it's not below it's from above;
a child will trust without restraint --
but child-like faith can tear or taint.

How can one take such innocence,
and break its will, it makes no sense.
A child is like a lump of clay --
can be misshaped -- trust's garment fray.

I want my child to waltz on dreams,
to float on storms, not guile's bent schemes;
to love one's fellow without fee,
to trust in God... for grace is free.
