Life on a Bullet Train

by Connie C

A bullet train is what I'm on,
just won't slow down, moves far too fast.
I stop and wonder where they've gone,
these golden years I pray will last.

There's still so much I want to do.
Why must the time keep whizzing by?
The travel miles that I accrue
have just begun in my mind's eye.

And, oh my goodness, what about
my grandkids who are growing fast?
I must admit I have some doubt
my keeping up with them will last.

Replenishing, on Sunday night,
my weekly pillbox for each day,
I sense that something's just not right.
These Sundays seem to fly away!

I guess I'm pretty lucky, though.
This train I'm on is one smooth ride.
It might go fast but even so
along quite merrily I glide.

Since my retirement nine years ago, it has seemed as if my life is just flying right by. However, it has all been good. If only it would last forever!
