The Right Servitude

The Right Servitude

I can't take one more ounce of hurt.
I hope you understand.
My life is never close to joy
and all that I had planned,

for I am being tested far
beyond what I can bear.
I know that scripture says our God
is loving; always fair,

but in that holy book there lies
the secret to my pain:
to harm a child of God's, a plea
will always be in vain.

Yet as I write this verse, self-doubt
is seeded in my mind,
and so I grab my Bible to
confirm what I did find -

'Tis better one should drown inside
a sea than hurt His child.'

Yes, there it is, so I was right.
My grief and pain are wild.

But suddenly, a miracle
takes place, and just for me.
I drop the book; it opens at,

'Into that heart He'll see

and speak His word. Forgiveness is
assured for those of God.'

I'd turned my back, forgot my place!
In Him I must be awed,

for there is not one thing that He
cannot make right for us,
no matter how we scream and cry;
create an awful fuss.

It's guilt that He is saying will
torment us when we're wrong -
I'd left His loving family,
forsook His saintly throng.

So though I never meant to hurt
a follower of His,
I did, yet all's forgiven now,
so now there only is

one way to make it right, again -
restore the heart I broke.
Forsake my guilt, live joyously,
and take up Father's yoke.

Recognized

Did you ever feel like you couldn't understand what you could possibly have done so awfully wrong that you are completely taken for granted; worse, that your life has become meaningless?

Sometimes we hurt others without even knowing we have, or we DO realize it, and are sorry, remorseful, but can't forgive ourselves.

But if we are so forgiving of others that we are not respected, what is the answer? In my mind, it's simple: if God forgives us, who do we think we are, not to forgive ourselves? (And who are these others who take us for granted?)
