For Me

Stay Alive

by Bichon

As 2018 rolls around, a lot of us need reminding of what we're doing, and what we plan to do this year. One thing we should all focus on doing is living our lives to the fullest.

There has been a trend floating around called "Start Your Year Off Right". Basically, people name famous songs and movies that if you start at the right time, a good thing will happen when the clock strikes 12 and 2018 officially begins.

I thought I might as well participate in this trend for the fun of it. The song I chose is called "Truce" by a band called Twenty One Pilots, which consists of two members, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. They're my favorite band, and in my opinion, are a good example of what the recent music industry should be like. They write meaningful songs with thoughtful lyrics that a lot of people can relate to, especially those who have suffered with anxiety or depression. A lot of listeners have claimed their music has saved them from darker times in their lives.

Anyways, during the song Truce if you started it at a certain time, when 2018 begins, Tyler Joseph will sing the lyric "Stay alive". It might sound strange, but it felt somewhat special as he said the words and the fireworks outside exploded into vibrant sparkles and crackles.

In a way, I guess it's my resolution. To get the most out of this new year, and live life to the fullest. A message that I think we can all pursue.

The lyrics to the song Truce by Twenty One Pilots are as followed:

Now the night is coming to an end
The sun will rise and we will try again

Stay alive, stay alive for me
You will die, but now your life is free
Take pride in what is sure to die

I will fear the night again
I hope I'm not my only friend

Stay alive, stay alive for me
You will die, but now your life is free
Take pride in what is sure to die
