A memorial for Nick Melinchuk

Grampa Nick

by Sharon Meda

big man
gentle man
with nought but good to say

loving heart
kind heart
he turned no one away

with gadgets built galore

wanting nothing more

role model to us all

big man
gentle man
yet he too did fall

Write a poem in regards to loved on lost or a loved one who has lost.

Nick Melinchuk 1912 - 1992
Nick was born in Manitoba, but became a roving rodeo rider and cow hand travelling across Canada at a young age. He met Lucy and they were married on her family ranch in Drumheller, Alberta. They moved to Vernon, BC to start and raise their family. Parents to a daughter Vi and a son Doug, they had nine granddaughters, never a grandson.

Nick was a big and jolly man who touched everyone he met with his jovial manner, kind heart, and his wonderful stories. He was taken by cancer in May 1992. He is sadly missed by all.

The photo is Nana and Grampa on their wedding day.
