Desolate

Poem of the Month contest entry
No - the book is NOT full of dismal poetry. It shows how jaded views can be turned around. A novel is a journey, with conflict - why couldn't a chapbook also be a journey? This is just one poem. (Here's the next one - it's deleted at FanStory, so I'll include it here; maybe that will give those reviewers who don't pre-judge the idea - my plan for the book. Thank you for reading. "Ideasaregems" - Dawn) (I see 'Evil Eddie keeps adding strange symbols to my poem - believe me, they're not in the manuscript - it's not me. But please let
me know if you are seeing them. I keep correcting, but they reappear.)
Send An Angel
It's not enough to say You love me,
show me that it's true.
Renew my heart, restore my soul -
You know I worship You!
My prayer is never-ending,
still the suffering exists -
young babies blown apart by bombs,
and poverty persists.
Your pow'r can move a mountain,
yet You blame sin on free will?
Are some men wicked-minded? Yes,
and some will surely kill,
but what of that sweet innocent
who languishes, so sick?
Is cancer that poor person's fault?
Is love some kind of trick?
For my part, I accept my due -
perhaps I've been too bad.
But why say I'm forgiven, then
allow me to be sad?
I pray for just a closer walk
beside You, and to see!
If I am wearing blinders, then
I ask You, what's the key?
It's not enough to say to love
our neighbors as ourselves!
You tell us we must show we care,
but non-believer delves
into Your Word from time to time,
and we still cling to hope.
Please, Father, send a messenger
to help Your children cope.
