Christmas

by poetwatch

Everywhere joy sings aloud
When Christmas day is around
Smiling hearts make that sound.
In my house, it can't be found.
The stockings are starving.
There's a hole in that shoe;
The little ones are leaving.
What am I suppose to do?
Once, the child reigned over all
Dressed in clothing of pure white,
But the baron came and called
In a sleigh one shadowed night.
Stole the love he did bestow
Left a sock filled with greed.
Now... I stare through this window,
Bringing only what we need.
Then, the angels blessed my home.
As they sang Holy Night
Said I'll never be alone
For the Lord shall give me sight.
"Don't worry about riches,"
The Lord voiced his love to me.
"In your heart are the treasures
Share your love so they can see."
Angels came into my home,
Placing gifts from the Star
In my heart I'm not alone
My Lord is never far.

I sit with angels by my side and share the love the Lord gave me. My children are far away and Christmas get lonely, but I can always count on the Lord to be with me. May you all share a loving Christmas and have a Happy New Year. :)
