Apologies make all the difference.

Mistakes we make . . .

by Dolly'sPoems

Mistakes we make . . .

Been very small and then grew tall,
I learned my lessons well;
Lived by a code that I owed,
To those with time to tell.

I've purred, I've erred, I've been absurd,
Played games with the best;
Been strict, tricked and been kicked,
Life puts you to the test.

I've won and lost, counted the cost,
But luck has pulled me through;
Integrity and decency,
Started to accrue.

Witnessed the bad, the good, the sad,
Can recognise the strong;
Opinion reserved and then preserved,
Until I know their song.

Then when your mind has been assigned,
To know a worthy deed;
Reward the cause and flaunt the laws
To make your heart take heed.

A sorry word can heal the world,
Extend three score years and ten;
Mistakes we make and lives we break,
Honesty is admitting them.
