Her tears...

Love's chains

by An Awakened Heart

She cried again and in darkness walks
warm tears fill both her eyes
her heart in pain, her breath in check
so sad, can't realize

He left her, took her heart away
cold wetness down her neck
her pillow holds her silent wails
the emptiness hides the rest

She cannot breathe, her veins stand out
her voice hoarse... she's insane
the memory of him burns her, still
she's the only one she blames

He told her when he met her
that all is not what it seems
he whispered his desires
still his slave - but in her dreams

For there he has no power
she finds her inner strength
she pray's the Lord's forgiveness
dark oblivion, her soul drinks

But when the sun comes in the morn
old chains cut cold and deep
she hears his laughter echoing
on her knees, she bows and weeps

She asks herself why she can't let go
why her memory never fades
she oathed her love completely
she'll take her honor to her grave

Let go...

She still holds on...
