In response to a candidate using a song without permission

Cease and Desist!

The author has placed a warning on this post for language.
Don't want you usin' my song,
Cause the words came from my heart;
Turned on the TV,
Saw your face,
Felt an arrow in my heart.

CHORUS:
Didn't ask for my permission,
Wouldn't give it anyway;
Hate everything you stand for,
Wish your show'd just fade away.

My music was the soundtrack,
For your oh so pompous act;
Heard it play,
Tried to look away,
Got pissed off--that's a fact!

(CHORUS)
Didn't ask for my permission,
Wouldn't give it anyway;
Hate everything you stand for,
Wish your show'd just fade away.

You'd better listen real good,
Not givin' you a pass;
Don't play my song,
Keep doin' me wrong,
And I'll sue your political ass.

(CHORUS)
Didn't ask for my permission,
Wouldn't give it anyway;
Hate everything you stand for,
Wish your show'd just fade away.

...Just slink off and fade away.
...Please.

Lyrics Make The Song contest entry

I won't mention the candidate's name, but the audacity of using a song as a backdrop or an introduction to a political rally without first obtaining the permission of the songwriter seems, to me, a total violation not just of copyright laws, but of simple human decency. It makes it seem as though the songwriter supports the candidate when that may be quite far from the truth.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
