Be With Me

by HarryT

Every day I passed her
I longingly cast an eye
Then one day...

Did I hear a dulcet refrain?
Is that your song following me?
But, oh, so different are we

Captured by your rhapsody
Born in me a new melody
I want to sing out…but…

Words twitch in my throat
Beliefs, I have been taught
Oh, so different are we

Curse those nay-saying teachers
Finally, I sing…
“Come with me, be with me”

We are our own truth-makers
Together our love will prove
Not so different are we
