Looking For My Muse

I'm looking for my muse
High, low the hunt goes on
I'm not sure who I'm looking for
For we've yet to meet.

I've long questioned the dog
Looked under every rock
Big or tiny; not to be seen
Be she there or not?

I must find her, you see
To tell her it's not nice
To give me my best, wisest words
When the clock strikes just twice.
