I Wish only the Best

For You

by artemis53

I gingerly step about,
almost a year gone,
but grass does not grow
beneath trees
and the Earth seems freshly turned
leaving the hem of my dress
with the red dust of the South
but I still wander about
hoping that those stains
might never
come out.

For they are now a piece of you
and I cling to them tightly,
never to be washed away
and tears flow freely
for I am the one
who connects you to
our once cherished,
light of day
and whispers spoken nightly.

And dreams, my Dear, may never end.
They are an intangible gift
to the mind and spirit
as well as one's closest friend,
and may always lift you up
from the despair
that may surround one
as she separates the darkness
from the warmth
of the Sun.

As a wandering, worldly specter,
I often caress your stone,
a respectful touch imparting
that you are not alone
and lie within
such loving arms,
that we might reminisce
the stars that we once wished upon,
and softness of each kiss.

For though such times confound us,
there's nothing I'll not do
but turn each dream to horses
so we might
ride it through
in golden jubilation,
morning's dew.

An endeavor,
seemingly fruitless

"that's what I'm wishing

for you."

Light and dark, dark and light can be so confusing but, one must have an anchor in storms. It shall help to pull you through.
