Remember the sacrifice

The Eleventh Hour

by Aussie

Today we bow our head
For the soldier long dead
Some came back
Some lay amongst tack

Horses bloated and blue
Soldiers turning that hue
Today we remember all you saw
Giving your life in filthy war

WW1 slaughter of men
We think always of them
We bow our head
For our glorious dead

At the eleventh hour
We remember the power
On the eleventh day
We bow to pray

War destroys so many men
War again and again
At the going down of the sun
We think of all carrying a gun.

Australia remembers our glorious dead and those who came home on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
"Death has no dominion over those who fell fighting."
