Free Verse - What are wars good for?

Stop the wars

by Sandra du Plessis

Stop the wars we plan
with chariots and horses,
our battle is not against
flesh and blood
but against the
darkness of this world
the wickedness we see
in high places.

The warfares that are raging
are in the minds of men,
these wars we can fight only
with the armor of God
that will protect us
from all evil
that stands against us.

He offers his whole armor;
our loins are the girth
in His truth,
His breastplate
fills us with
righteousness.

Our feet will
stand steadfast
in the
gospel of peace.

The shield of faith
will protect us from
the fiery darts
of the wicked.

The Word of God;
is the sword of the Spirit
His helmet, the salvation
He freely gives.

With prayers, we shall
persevere and the
mystery of the gospel
shall be known.

Bring peace to all,
accept the love of faith
from God our Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ
will give us grace.

I am totally against war, it has no purpose and nobody gains anything, the only war I am willing to fight in this war of the Spirit with God by my side.
A visiting preacher to our community started his service one Sunday morning with these words:

"Stop the war you want to fight with horses and chariots, the war is not against flesh and blood. It is a war of the Spirits and wicked leaders of this world."
