The Brave Turkey

The Brave Turkey

Tom the turkey, bright and perky,
Was always full of fun;
He knew the deal, he was the meal,
His foresight was to run.

He had a plan to move his clan,
Onto a safer field;
From the farmer's gun, they would run,
Before their fate was sealed.

So late one night when stars were bright,
They made good their escape;
No plucking be, their clucking free,
No tin foil oven bake.

Tom led the rafter, soon thereafter,
Their necks were on the block;
Then every hen escaped the pen,
And the farmer was in shock.

No lock or key, they now roam free,
No pen to fence them in;
No dinner date with Christmas plate,
As killing is a sin.

Brave and bold, their story is told,
Tom had been very plucky;
They heard the screams of deadened dreams,
The pigs were not so lucky.
