Back To The One Room School

by patcelaw

Just
as school
was about
to start the kids
were all excited
to go to their classes.
They loved their teacher and she
loved them, so it promised to be
a very good year for one and all,
as the children would be learning new things
which would please their parents very much
knowing the teacher had great skill,
the children would learn to read,
to write and do their math
and one day become
educated
to grow up
become
smart.

This poem reflects what I felt as a child going to a one room school. I love school and was a very good student until I went to high school, where I almost failed. There was so much turmoil in my home that I was not given the time I needed to study.
The photo looks much like the one room school I went to school my first 7 years of school. Each day we walked two and one-half miles to and from school.
The image is a google image.
