A blast from the past
Soda Fountains & Sock Hops
Going to the corner Soda Fountain
Out front the Greasers hangin'
J.D.'s with D.A.s, real gone man
Gotta be cool walkin' by em'
Rolled up "T" sleeves holds their cigs
Chain smokin' weeds, hiding from pigs
Finger snappin' harmonizin', ya dig
Leather clad rebels, thinkin' they're big
Sock Hop comin', I need a date
When a Greaser asks, I hesitate
Passion Pit Skags, their usual mate
Hot Rods & Wheelies & stayin' out late
Wild side temptin', too timid to dare
I say yes to the drag, a nowhere square
Him tryin' for cool with Pompadour hair
Driving his Dad's Woodie to get us there
My date's attire, a Shark Skin suit
On me, a Poodle Skirt and Saddle Shoes are cute
A cardigan sweater and neckerchief to boot
Outta sight threads is how we spend our loot
Rockin' & Rollin' doing the Bop at the Hop
Having fun with a boy. not the pick of the crop
Academically inclined, he doesn't take shop
In his class rank, he's all the way at the top
In walks my rejected greaser, radioactive for sure
Tried to take me away from the boy who's no bore
Cruisin' for a Bruising' I shot him down once more
My square cat offering a Knuckle Sandwich du jour
Homeward bound detour, making out in the dark
Submarine race watching, our excuse to park
This boy was no spaz in his suit of a shark
Surprisingly his kiss ignited love's spark
My Virgin Pin rusted, my tardiness showing
A shot gun wedding, the bride wasn't glowing
My square cat spends weekends raking and mowing
And I spent my days wiping noses that are blowing.
The moral to my story, good boys or bad
You end up preggies, having been had
They both want the same thing, to get you unclad
Their punishment is not being a college grad!
