Lai

Wawhuh.

by LIJ Red

How vile can this be?
Garb of enemy:
diaper.
Bushwhacker yet he
said hero to be--
sniper.
Hides in land of free,
mangles you and me--
viper.

Wars that would shame knights
toddlers slain in fights
that's now.
Craven ambush blights
dark and bloody nights.
We vow:
we shall set our sights
upon human rights--
somehow.

In those days of old
they say knights were bold.
No more.
Fine stories we're told
Ere hearts grew so cold.
Before.
Now honor is sold
God sorts 'em, we're told.
Abhor.
