Unrequited love

Love's betrayal

by An Awakened Heart

I will hold my curse from you
until my dying breath
that true love find you unawares
and put you through life's test

Your lips were warm and gentle
so soft and so inviting
your passion burned, uncontrolled
unexpected, rare... exciting

The way your eyes would look at me
'twould always take my breath
send chills upon my chest and arms
... not knowing what was next

Our bodies heat would last the night
entwined and full consumed
no other place I'd rather be
our end, could not presume

Yes, I will hold my curse from you
until my dying breath
that true love find you unawares
and put you through life's test

Your eyes would tell me so much more
I'd see myself exposed
how could I not fall hopelessly
unchained, my heart's repose

Your body held, so close to mine
I could not, nor would break free
I questioned daily providence
your choice, "Why was it me?"

I look back now and see my dream
"A nightmare," now I know
for how could I deserve true love (like this)
the fates had once bestowed

Yes, I will hold my curse from you
until my dying breath
that true love find you unawares
and put you through life's test
