Story of a soldier's long, lost grave

The Ghost of Baker Park

by Mimi Linny

'Neath Baker Park, it's long been told
A single grave lies hidden
And underneath, one soldier's life,
To Civil War he'd given
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The story goes, her soldier died
In sorrow deep, she wiped her eyes
The weeping widow's wails and sighs
Were heard in desperation
A ghostly apparition waved
A ghastly groan it grimly gave
As hovered o'er the soldier's grave
In haunting desolation
The ground beneath began to shake
The tombstone cracked,
Its form did break.
The water rose upon the lake
In creeping trepidation
Then thunder cracked and wind did roar
On Baker Park, the rain did pour
Like never had it done before
In flooding devastation
And when the water had resigned
'Twas found that only left behind
Were stories of unearthly kind
In eerie adaptation
The soldier's grave, no longer there
An eerie aura fills the air
The park stays brimmed in dread and fear
In angst imagination
~~~~~~~~

The story's old and long been told
In quest, he does embark
Still searching for his long, lost grave...
