Peace of Mind

by bob cullen

Sometimes he just don't give a stuff
He's lived life hard, he's done it tough
But he not sure, he's done enough
In his search for peace of mind

Reflects on life, the road he's run
What's past is past, can't change what's done
Regret's a waste, there's no rerun
In the search for peace of mind

Remembers where it went astray
'Twas Vietnam a price to pay.'
Fifty years on, won't go away
Still searching for peace of mind

Survived life's kicks, had lots of falls
Friends walked away he missed their calls
Lonely and trapped inside four walls
Still searching for peace of mind

Life's knocked him down, he's been to hell
Spent time inside a prison cell
Shared secrets he will never tell
In his search for peace of mind

Today he finally found release
The long-term guilt can rest in peace
The fears of the past can now cease
'Cause death brought pure peace of mind
