What Are We Made Of? -A 911 Tribute

by frogbook

A swirl of souls again rises in the lights of the twin tower memorials,
this time triumphant in the glory of the light, and not the shadows.
How our hearts ache, remembering your searing fall-
and the brave souls lost within.

The flights of death would not go quietly,
as their passengers refused to succumb,
fighting to the end to save others.

The American spirit stood strong then, as it does now.

A proud nation vowed to grow even stronger.

Bowed heads in the towering metal garden of death,
losing more rescuers in the rubble.
Dogs and men fought bravely to bring the lost out.
Regular people saving regular people.
Gut-wrenching images day and night,
of the saved and the dead,
the relatives begging for news of their loved ones.
Badges in the dust.

We wept as one nation,
but rose out of the ashes like the phoenix,
vowing to stand together against our enemies,

And to NEVER Forget.

So, we keep this vow, but let us remember....
what it was we knew then.
A deep, flag-waving love for our country, our neighbors;
We stood together hand in hand as one, all races, all kinds,
in support of the country we all love.

Never Forget.
