A funeral escort

Patriotic Sons

by poetwatch

I ride with tears in my eyes,
proud to escort these warriors
who, for me, met their demise.
No one will bother these heroes;
I'm the shield at their side.
Respect these fallen heroes.
They are your sons and daughters,
and they gave you their dreams
of life, liberty, and happiness.
They did not hide.
To me, they are my family,
and these colors do not run.
I will ride with liberty
and freedom till the job is done.
Patriot is the name.
I feel my family's tears,
and I can't hold back on mine.
These are my brothers and sisters
since the beginning of time.
We all ride the same.
