My Thoughts on Our Legacy

Neglect is what we leave our kids-
now don't get all upset.
I'm speaking of their future years
and what they'll never get.

The legacy we planned to leave
our children when we die,
has up to now been promises-
and has all been a lie.

The sky of blue is turning brown,
the water's bitter sweet;
the animals are going fast,
a fate we, too, will meet.

Our legacy's not air to breathe
or water that is pure.
It's not the animals now gone
or sickness we can't cure.

Our legacy that we hand down,
what kids already know,
is proving we must fight and die...
to live a life of woe.

There's threats to buildings, trains and planes,
and terror in the schools.
The loss of life by terrorists
is not the Golden Rule.

Our legacy to give our kids,
for here and overseas,
should be a fight to save our world,
then life would be a breeze.

You mark my words, 'twill come the day
that Mother Earth collects...
when future generations die
because of our neglect.
