A double Etheree

The Coupling

her buttons
and she awakes
purring to his touch.
There's no one else he loves;
instinctively he knows her
and they quiver with excitement.
With his sure thrust and pistons firing,
passion and precision will quickly shift
from sensual to urgent in their need.
It's a blended, symbiotic love
where need and rapture can't be matched.

An Etheree is similar to the Cinquain and the Rictameter, the Etheree is a syllable counting form. It is ten unrhymed lines of verse and is attributed to an American poet, Etheree Taylor Armstrong of Arkansas. An Etheree should focus on one idea or subject. Confirming what has been said giving us a syllable count of: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.

The poetry form, Ethere, consists of 10 lines of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 syllables. Normally, they do not rhyme, but rhyming is optional.

Etheres can also be reversed and written 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

You can get creative and write an Ethere with more than one verse, but must follow suit with an inverted syllable count.

Reversed Ethere: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Double Ethere: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 9, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
