Turn Back

A time and place in another era of time
The night has never been forgotten a dime
For a song would keep you so entertained
You would forget your time night or day
At four in the morning you could still get the
Blue plate special or steak and eggs you see
It's an all night diner, coffee you could drink free
So you would be sobered up by the time you leave
You never had to have an appointment walk and you can see
There is old fashioned music on the juke box for you and me
Come on out to the all night truck stop out on highly way 423
It's out down by the old oak tree close to Blackies Bar come and see
Who expected to see at four in the morning our friend Big Jake
walk through the door with a wailing baby with blood caked on his face.
grabbing a towel they grabbed the baby wrapped him, all looked at Big Jake
Tears were streaming down his face as he explained he had to save LittleJake
Back in the old days you could go to the restaurants opened 24/7 many were truck stops and served anything you wanted to eat. All food were served in huge portions guaranteed to fill you up. Coffee came free while you were eating your food. They would come around and keep you coffee topped off. Many came in after a night out on the town and when they left they were sober enough to drive. Picture the surprise on their faces when a big burly guy named Big Jake comes in at four in the morning crying he had just killed his wife. He was covered inblood. He was rushing his wife to the hospital when his tire blew causing them to crash into the tree killing his wife instantly. He took out his hunting knife and saved the baby. He rushed him to the all night dinner to get him help. It was now four in the morning and all was now well.
