Not about me

Discarded

by TAB_that's me

I'm the undesired fish,
hooked and reeled,
unworthy of even being
dinner;
turned lose, tossed in the sea,
bleeding from my gills,
I can't breathe.

I guess I should be glad
you didn't use me;
you threw me back before
we'd even met.

I was hopeful for romance --
the finally happily-ever-after
where you turn my house into a home,
never leaving, always
waiting by the door.
The walk
and picnic in the park,
caressing each other
in the grass
kind of romance.

I wanted forever --
instead I'm a discarded mess,
nothing left except
a pillow full of tears.

I've swallowed the loser pill --
everyone leaves me.
It's not my fault, they've all said.
I'm not worth keeping,
I guess.

I've tucked away my heart,
yet again.
It's still alive --
beating, pumping,
bleeding...
but never again
loving...

This is about a good friend of mine. She'd shut down from entering relationships because of all times she'd been hurt, then decided to go online and found someone. After 3 weeks of talking, they were going to meet and the other person backed out, won't answer texts any more and broke my friend's heart once again.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
