the advantage of being the leader

Pirate Math

by pome lover

Pirate Math

With sword in hand and stealthy tread
He leads his motley band of men
Aboard the merchant vessel where
They steal from passed-out drunks within.

He’d seen, with trusty telescope,
Its sailors dump their treasure trove
Upon the deck, and laugh with glee,
But they would find it gone, by Jove!

The pirate captain told his men,
Upon return with stolen loot,
“We will divide it evenly—
(The way I see it)—no dispute!”

He stroked his curled mustache and smiled,
His pearly whites gleamed in the sun,
His fingers slowly touched his knife,
His one eye took in everyone.

“We’ll separate them into piles,
And each man, individually
Will get one shiny gold piece to
The TWO ye will be givin’ me!”

thanks, eileen0204 for the picture of Foster Grant - perfect!
If the pirate leader HAD been Foster Grant, he'd have probably headed ashore to the nearest pub.
