Giving in to my dog

Those Begging Doggie Eyes

by Connie C

She sits there waiting patiently,
this dog of mine who wants to play.
But right now my priority
is getting through my busy day.

Each time I look out in the yard,
she's there intent on staring back,
her ball nearby which she must guard.
If only she'd give me some slack!

As moments pass, my guilt mounts up.
Why must she look at me that way?
Such sad, sad eyes on my sweet pup
who suffers from such dog dismay.

Oh well, to hell with any task.
I'll skip my chores and head outside.
I can't ignore those eyes that ask
that we play fetch; I must abide.

The picture is of our Bella who likes to sit in the yard and and stare at the house until I come out and play. She always wins.
