Bearded, But Bewildered

by jaybird1

I've known this man a long, long time,
who lately grew a beard.
While many think he's crazy,
some others deem him weird.

They say that he looks very old,
some call him dirty face
and wonder what he's up to.
His wife reels in disgrace.

He only hoped his beard would bring
grace, dignity and charm,
instead of female furor
and stirring up alarm.

I told him he should shave it off,
the time had come to do it.
He still resists, he just can't bring
his face and razor to it.

So now he grovels, deep in grief,
almost in dark despair.
He wonders as he ponders--
What's this with facial hair?
