Grandma Bessie's Hat

'Family Matters' ~ #21-450-B-C
Dainty little Grandma Bessie
came to visit, clothed to the nines.
Well-tailored suit, kind of dressy,
fingers gloved as manner defines.

Best was Bessie's glorious hat,
a frou-frou thing with tulle and rose,
which on her tresses pertly sat.
How charming she was, goodness knows.

She sipped her tea and looked at me,
spied golden braids and shoeless feet.
I, tomboy of the family;
she the lady, polite and sweet.
