what I see in the mirror

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

by Chrissy710

What do I see in the mirror each day?
Sometimes when I look I get frightened away.
Cause instead some old broad impersonates me,

She's sure not the one I''m expecting to see.

I get up each morning refreshed from my sleep,
And into the mirror I venture to peep.
In hope that the young girl who I use to be,
Will be there in the mirror; awaiting is she.

No wrinkles or crows feet, or blemishes find
But youthful and fresh faced, she's there in my mind.
Her hair long and bouncy a rich chocolate brown,
Not greying and coloured or making me frown.

With her pretty white teeth, and no dentures to fit
Or penciled on eyebrows from her make up kit.
Ruby red lipstick that highlights her smile,
Oh yes I remember; but it has been a while.

I can not go back now, or alter my face,
Just accept this old broad; who is her replace.
And the lines that I see now, have earned over years,
Just think of them fondly as my souvenirs.
