Unhinged (haibun)

Unhinged

Up down, back and forth. Flailing in a space devoid of tangibles. Nothing to cleave to as I go bouncing around in the invisible chaos. Black sky. White sky. No sky! Blood clouds rolling overhead. Cursing me in sinister, silent gestures. Felt a splat. Stings like a slap. Crimson droplets hemorrhaging; leaving me awash in life's swollen indifference. Seeking a foothold in this ether world. But there is no ground to be found. Can't touch down. Tethered to nothing, I dangle in the tangles of disconnected pathways, praying for a set of wings to offset the muddied impressions left by another patient's disjointed foot dragging broken shoestrings.
