Dear Lord, Change Me

by Barb Hensongispsaca

Spiritual Poem Contest Winner
Father of Grace,
I can't do it alone.
I have tried and failed.
I am not You.
Please help me change my thinking
so that I will remember
I am human.

For all the times
You try to talk to me,
counsel me, warn me,
praise me, teach me,
and I tune You out...
change my actions.

For all the times
I have to take control
and do things my way
because I think I know best...
change my thoughts.

For all the times
I should look around
and enjoy Your art work
and wonders that pass by only once
and don't think I have time...
change my oversight.

For all the times
I do what I think
is best for me,
only to discover it's not
really Your plan...
change my arrogance.

For all the times
I worry myself sick
about things
I have no control over
and blame you...
change my anger.

For all the times
I could help someone else
instead of being so wrapped up
in my own little problems...
change my pride.

For all the times
I look around,
search my heart
and still question your existence...
change my doubt.

For all the times
my language questions
your parentage
and call your name
without reason...
change my stupidity.

For all the times
I stood very still
and heard Your voice
and actually listened...
thank you.
