They Gave All

With our silent men of war
we, today take time to pause.
For the many, as they lay,
we pay homage for their cause.

But we oft time lose the measure
of the sacrifice each made.
When we think in terms of many,
individual glories fade.

Dwell not on the millions dead,
think of just one precious life;
Maybe someone close to you
now long perished in the strife.

No one wants to give their life
for a cause, though it be just.
Think on this, as now you pay
tribute to their honored dust.

They gave all that we may have
precious freedom here, this day.
We should strongly guard their cause
and nurture it, in every way.
