Legendary Love

by Thal1959

Compare the sun's glory to her fair grace,
and Heaven's beauty to her splendid face,
Serene and wise, her spirit so enthralls,
the name Cleopatra - my heart recalls.

For I could not resist her drawing arms,
regardless of the danger and the harms,
that might befall a man of Roman blood,
who sought to fell Egypt into the mud.

But all the glories of the Roman state,
could not surpass what loving hearts do sate;
that yearning for a woman's radiance,
that strips him of all brazen male pretense.

Her heart shall now be my eternal home,
so now say I, Marc Anthony, of Rome.
