We danced 'til all the music died
I thought I was your queen
I said we'd make new plans and dreams
Our future; I had seen.

But as we talked, I realized,
I heard but just one voice.
I wondered, also, how it was
That it had been my choice!

Suddenly, it came to me
So simply making sense:
I was doin' all the talkin'
While you just walked the fence.

If I had only listened
When I heard no sound from you,

I'd have known that we were through.
