Don't Ski in the Dark

by HarryT

Blackness, sinister and foreboding, saturated the icy cold dawn. The roaring wind cascaded deep into the isolated valley. What happened? I'm freezing. Damn it. I shouldn't have been skiing on the mountain after dark.

I move, pain ravaging the left side of my chest. I push on my rib cage greater agony erupts.

"Broken ribs, I bet."

I search my pockets.

"C'mon cell phone work... Damn, it's dead."

I fear my fate.

Is that a dog barking?

"Here! Here! Please, I'm down here in the crevice."
