Waiter, there's a spider in my soup.
haiku (silverware reflects)

While dining beneath an umbrella on the beach of La Palapa Restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, I startled when I saw a spider in my spoon. I was relieved when I discovered that the spoon's reflection of the umbrella's ribs created an optical illusion.
This is the first of many poems and perhaps stories I will write on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, especially since I am stuck on a mountain resort with nothing to do but write. I may try new forms of poetry while others may get weird as I comment upon Mexican culture.
I took the picture of my "spider spoon."
