writers write
about the world around them
whether it be pretty, pink and paisley
or a field full of daisies;

dragonflies and butterflies
muffle the cries
of those needing to be free

oppression, misdirection,
abuse, brings us to our knees
where have all those flowers gone?
go ask the busy bumble bees

it isn't all so pretty
beyond the meadow where the wildflowers grow
cities of rubble
concrete crumbled
families hungry and homeless
where will they all go?
