Beware the Seagull

by Connie C

I'm perched on this no parking sign.
Don't tell me that I can't be here.
I claim this sign to be all mine
while other seagulls hover near.

Don't dare to park here at this site
to catch a view of ocean blue.
A hefty fine that you can't fight
is apt to be imposed on you.

And I who watches all who pass
will help insure that you don't stop.
Upon your windshield's shiny glass
my excrements I'm bound to plop.

So move along and leave me be.
I'm sure that down the road you'll find
more lovely coastal scenery
where you can stop if so inclined.

Recognized

On a recent trip to the California coast, we pulled up and parked briefly right in front of the seagull in this picture. For some strange reason, I felt like that seagull really didn't want us there.
I was inspired to write this silly poem as I imagined him saying this to me.
