Expectation

by Dr. Nad

Our lives are filled with great challenges.
It seems like we never decompress.
When one difficulty seems muted,
more issues come, that add to our stress.

It matters not what our career is,
disappointment will invade our space.
Immunity is not an option,
frustration plagues all the human race.

I doubt a cure is in the offing,
but, I’m just saying, we must not quit.
With this, as with most other problems,
there is good news for all who seek it.

Remember when we were quite little,
a pattern was developing then.
Somehow we thought we were entitled,
to fulfill all our dreams, by age ten.

As teenagers, we kept expecting,
from our parents, family and friends.
We got older, assumptions bolder,

thought of personal rights never ends.

By the time we attained adulthood,
we should have learned a lesson or two.
Choices we make have consequences,
rewards come, after the work is through.

Last, there is the really big one: God.
We know precisely what he should do.
Personal responsibility,
just seems so cold, because God owes you!

I think I have hit upon something,
that may need no more explanation.
The crux of our problem just may be,
UNREALISTIC EXPECTATION
!

Recognized

I have found in my own personal experience that the more I expect of others, who I'm not responsible for, the harder it is for me to be content. If my expectation of myself is high I perform at a high level. If my expectation of people, in general, is low, I'm Not placing unrealistic expectation on someone who is not my subordinate. This enhances My satisfaction quotient proportionately.

For those who care about such things each line has nine syllables.
