The Greatest Tragedy

by toz666

The Greatest Tragedy

The death of a child is like no other
It breaks the father, wrecks the mother
It brings a pain which cannot heal
A void so vast you can't conceal

No-one can ever take their place
You never will forget their face
The slightest thing they did or said
Is locked away inside your head

Life goes on but not the same
You suffer loss, sometimes blame
But somehow you must carry on
Accept the fact your child has gone

Your life will ache with constant woe
As you never let their memory go
You have to bear the tragic cost
Of a life so dear, prematurely lost

But darkness lifts and light breaks through
As time will ease the pain for you
Your child once more will warm your heart
Their memory lives , you'll never part

The death of a child should never be
It is life's greatest tragedy
And though you somehow struggle through
Pray God it never happens to you
