A chapter in the book Christmas Poetry

A New Star

by Badger_29

The holy time that is right now,
and every Christmas  past
a festive, warm, and timely show
that always goes too fast!

Trifles, treats, and treasures
all around the tree
displayed in generous measures,
a pretty sight to see

Angelic voices, caroling
songs written for the day
Soft snow falling, heralding
The Boy birthed in the hay

The cattle softly lowing
a new Star shining bright
Its heavenly light showing:
mankind's new found delight

The vibrant vision, laid before
those present at the stable
a gift that's free, for rich and poor
for all those who are able:

to accept the best reward
that was never earned
offered from our faithful Lord,
a lesson to be learned

To be called are many
but chosen are a few
so always offer plenty
in everything you do

Perhaps some may feel differently
but they appear not wise
for it seems they do not see
that His love IS the prize

I know He wants to cherish
all who find His grace
that none should die and perish,
when we leave this earthly place

So, if you are reading,
preparing for your rest
know that we're all needing
to be truly blessed

Treat others as you would yourself
 and try not to grumble
for whosoever exalts himself
shall in the end, be humbled

Put your worries on a shelf,
your neighbor shan't be faulted
for he that humbleth himself
shall surely be exalted
