A chapter in the book Family 6

Alcoholism Destroys

by Barb Hensongispsaca

An alcoholic hates himself
Like kittens hate the rain,
Cause anger takes control of him,
Oppression leads to pain.
He takes the troubles of the world
Out on the ones he loves,
Likes pushing till they're left in tears,
Inside their thoughts are shoved.
Sometimes their hurt's not just in mind,
Made docile by his fists.

Demands are made through thoughtless words,
Embarrassments not missed.
Somewhere between the beatings and
The pleas for love again,
Recipients are made to feel
Observant of their sins.
You have to see you're not to blame
So cast aside this drinker's game.
