Ah Yes, I Remember It Well

I have a contest problem if you are among
The many potential voters who are too young.

It depends on this -
You're old enough if...

You... remember zoot suits,
Zazu Pitts, Soupy Sales,
"Half moons" on ladies' nails,
78's, and when there were just 48 states,
Still struggle with "galoshes instead of boots,
And gosh, you can recall those lovable Shmoos!

Walter Winchell and Smilin' Jack,
Rumble seats where you rode in the back,
Everyone knew of Gabriel Heater,
Eddie Cantor and "If You Knew Susie"
Lucille Ball before she was Lucy,
There was nothing called a parking meter,

Dubble Bubble, and Parliament smokes,
Mary Livingston and Jack Benny's jokes,
Amos and Andy, Etta Candy,
Laurel and Hardy, spin-the-bottle party,

And no TV, you had a radio,
A single lady was supposed to say "No!"
When Joltin' Joe married Marilyn Monroe,
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello made you giggle,
And the gals wore girdles so they wouldn't jiggle.

Pre-teen bobbysoxers swooned for a string bean named Frankie,
Back in the days when a handkerchief was called a hanky,
With running boards and the one-slice toaster,
When the waiters said, "Yes sir" or "No sir."
Teacher says, "Sit down!," and the kid obeys.
Those things have changed since "the good old days."

We're singling out things about voters' demographics propensities,
You, whose recollections make connections to the pre-seventies.
if you cannot remember most of this old stuff,
You're a whippersnapper, alas, not old enough!
