Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Something most of us struggle with

insecurity

by sandy montgomery

Our looks may differ inside i'm the same
Deep where hurt lives down where only i see
Only i can't hide outside i wear shame
i am open seen by those who judge me

At a wedding i want to dance freely
i want to fuel my lovers open flame
To live, and sing, and write my poetry
Our looks may differ inside i'm the same

When people laugh i feel i am their game
Though i try to hide insecurity
i may joke along but i feel they maim
Deep where hurt lives down where only i see

Other's may hide their own peversity
Sins forgiven hide behind their thin frame
But my fault all can see i can't be free
Only i can't hide outside i wear my shame

i long to blend in to be just a dame
To be seen as merely cute or pretty
The fattest in the room? Don't want that fame
i am open seen by those who judge me

Voice quiet, let me be and I will be
If you search my heart you will feel its flame
I am worth knowing in reality
To be known not by size but by my name
Our looks may differ

Pick an emotion and write a poem of any type.

The lowercase i's are on purpose. I changed to uppercase in last stanza to reflect a change in the writers mood. This is a rondeau redouble'. I am practicing this form currently.
